Celebrate Saskatchewan's Centennial

A Guide for Teachers

Français

On September 4, 2005, Saskatchewan will celebrate its Centennial – its 100th anniversary as a province of Canada. One hundred years ago, on September 1, 1905, Saskatchewan became a province. The official inauguration ceremony took place on September 4, 1905, in Regina.

Celebrate Saskatchewan’s Centennial: A Guide for Teachers describes activities that focus on Saskatchewan. This guide suggests ways that students and teachers can celebrate Saskatchewan’s Centennial, learn more about this province, and achieve curriculum objectives.

The activities described in Celebrate Saskatchewan’s Centennial can be used as a starting point. You can adapt, expand, and modify them so they suit your students’ and your situation. Most of the activities in this guide can be simplified or extended to suit students of different ages. This guide can be used in 2005 and in the years that follow. Although it was designed for Saskatchewan’s Centennial, the ideas in this guide will have continuing relevance.
